EXPLAINED: The Rails-To-Trails Conservancy

  1. The Rails To Trails Conservancy was established in 1986 to help convert abandoned & struggling rail lines into trails due to the many complicated legal, political and economic issues surrounding rail lines. 
  2. To date 2,000 separate rail trails have been created generating over 25,000 miles of trails.
